Nicholas Grider is an artist working between Los Angeles and Milwaukee. He received his MFA from California Institute of the Arts for art and writing in 2008. Grider’s work includes photography, text, installation, performance, and combinations of these forms. Grider is concerned with cultural depictions of masculinity, as well as disrupted memory and history. Portrait Society Gallery has shown Grider’s work several times, including Men in Suits (2009), Absence Makes (2012) and Adornment (2013).
His work has also been exhibited at Newspace for Contemporary Art, Portland; Armory Center for the Arts, Los Angeles; Redling Fine Art, Los Angeles; Angel’s Gate Cultural Center, Los Angeles; Kunstlerhaus zu Weimar, Germany.
